083. Metal under

Ok, back into the 100days2011 fold for inspiration after my day trips out to other sources. And what a picture to jump back in with, Nicolette's "Metal" with it's fantastic poem...

"every time you leave
i throw the shield i've been carrying
                   to the ground"

Damn, I wish I had written that.

every time you leave, there is a tension, but I always bring you back
every time you leave, you feel good about yourself, until you feel bored
every time you leave, a little more of me rusts, you have left so often it is starting to show
every time, you leave

055. Distemper

Working on 100days2011, I usually browse through everyone's contributions, saving the images or links to those I really like and think I might be able to do something with, and sometimes it takes me a while to find the right images to pair together. I saved Nicolette's "Disquiet" nearly a month ago, and only through further experimenting with the foam pictures did I find something that balanced.

plaster over me, lay down the foundation, smooth me out
touch me up
make me look like something you want
a line here, a blurring there
mould my features until
until
they are what you expect

027. Veils

I am tired today, and my mind is foggy. The perfect simplicity of Nicolette's "Corner" is my inspiration, and I paired it with an image called "Light Curtain". It was a visual poem, the original can be seen here, but today the words don't feel right. The last couple of pieces I've done have included some fiction, but I am not 100% satisfied with them, and yet, they were the best I could come up with at the time, which is probably why I am not satisfied... vicious circles... like the mosquito bites on my arms... just at table top height , so irritable when typing.

                             I showed you
everything that was behind the veil
                             but, now,
I think we both prefer that
                             I put it back.

020. Folie à deux

The talented Nicolette Wong has long been a must-read writer for me, particularly her blog "Meditations in an Emergency", and she is also participating in the 100 days project with "Le bleu de ciel" I am always in awe of her words, and the way they send my thoughts spinning, skittering... Todays effort is inspired by her day 16 post "Folly".

                                                    I love you
You love me?
                                                    Yes
I don't feel it...
[silence]
How can I tell?
                                                    Can't you tell?
I want to love you.
                                                    But you don't?
I don't know...

004. Fate

Another catch-up post, harking back to my first glimpse of the delightfully surreal Fran Forman, which I now realise was from last years 100 days... so much to catch up with still... I combined this with Nicolette Wong's Day 11 image entitled Revelation, and sought my future in the Tarot cards. It seems the news was not so good, so I teamed my haiku (mugged 1) together with the warning, and the memory of warnings ignored...

The second card, placed above the significator, represents Air. It describes your spirit, process of thought, and the influence of reason.
The Fool, when reversed:
Apathy, negligence, and dangerous carelessness. Unquenchable wanderlust. Obsession with someone or something. Losing all sense of proportion. Foolhardy adventuring and lack of interest in critical matters. Immature or unrealistic ideals. Strange impulses and desires coming from unexpected sources. Vanity, delirium, folly, and oblivion.
